Across the country, we are witnessing more and more restaurants closing their doors permanently as a result of the ongoing pandemic. As cases continue to rise nationwide, many restaurant owners are faced with the painful decision to just become another statistic or ride it out and hope for the best. According to Travel & Leisure, 100,000 establishments nationwide — have “closed either permanently or long-term,” according to a new survey the association released on Sept. 14.

There are more pandemic-induced vacancies on the horizon; however, some see opportunity. Many Long Island restaurant concepts are booming and on the hunt for new real estate, despite the unconventionally high rate of closures.
